The dramatic journey of Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, the two individuals arrested in connection with the firing outside Salman Khan's residence, underscores their efforts to evade law enforcement. After firing five rounds at Khan's house, the accused embarked on a complex route from Mumbai to Bhuj in Gujarat, employing multiple modes of transportation and altering their paths to avoid detection.
Following the incident, Gupta and Pal initially dumped their two-wheeler near Mount Mary Church in Mumbai and then took an autorickshaw to Bandra railway station. Subsequently, they boarded a local train bound for Borivali, disembarking at Santacruz railway station. From there, they proceeded on foot towards the Western Express Highway and eventually made their way to Surat.
In Surat, the accused disposed of the pistol in a pond before attempting to catch a train to Bhuj, albeit unsuccessfully. Consequently, they opted for a bus journey to Ahmedabad, followed by another bus ride to Bhuj, where they sought refuge in Mata No Madh village.
Both Gupta and Pal, originally from Bihar's Champaran, had been working in Haryana before coming in contact with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Their meticulous planning included conducting reconnaissance around Salman Khan's residence on multiple occasions and renting a house in Panvel. Firearms were delivered to them in Mumbai, and they were hired by the Bishnoi gang to carry out the attack.
The swift action of Mumbai Police, leveraging the continued activity of the accused's mobile phones, led to their apprehension in Gujarat. Following their arrest, Gupta and Pal were brought back to Mumbai and remanded in police custody until April 25 by a local court.
The unraveling of the accused's journey and their subsequent capture highlights the authorities' determination to swiftly bring perpetrators of such crimes to justice.
