Tourists from Nepal assert Her clothing was torn by an Assamese mob, who made fun of her by the police and filed a complaint

The woman from Nepal, who was visiting Assam, has alleged harassment by a group of seven individuals, including a woman, for dressing in a manner they perceived as masculine. In a video shared on her Instagram account, she recounted being forcibly dragged out of a cab by the group, with one of the accused identified as a reporter named Bobby Choudhary.

She further claimed that one of the individuals in the group suggested tearing her shirt to verify her gender, which she found deeply distressing.

When she approached the police to file a complaint, the woman alleged that she was met with mockery and derision, with the officers advising her to seek legal recourse instead.

Describing her traumatic experience, she stated, "Just for being a girl with short hair and for taking a stroll in the neighborhood at night, I was harassed both verbally and physically by some people in the neighborhood in Mariani, Assam."

The woman expressed her dismay over the lack of support from the police, stating that the accused had influential connections within the force and were treated with hospitality, while she was left waiting for hours without receiving justice.

She recounted the humiliation of being forcibly exposed and subjected to racial slurs and physical assault, which left her contemplating suicide.

Demanding justice for the ordeal she endured, the woman appealed for action to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

In response to her post, the Assam Police assured her that a case had been registered and that the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Titabor town was in contact with her. They also affirmed their commitment to closely supervise further actions per the law.

The woman tagged Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi, seeking their assistance in obtaining justice.
