Two people were arrested after more than 173 kg of cocaine were found on a fishing boat off the coast of Gujarat

The joint operation conducted by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) off the Gujarat coast resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of contraband drugs and the arrest of two individuals aboard an Indian fishing boat. The operation, which took place over two days, culminated in the apprehension of the boat carrying 173 kilograms of narcotics.

The success of this operation underscores the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between the ICG and ATS Gujarat in combating drug trafficking through maritime routes. This marks the twelfth apprehension by the ICG in the past three years, reflecting the ongoing commitment to tackling illicit activities at sea.

Additionally, in a separate exercise, the ATS and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) intercepted 14 Pakistani nationals off the Gujarat coast and seized 86 kilograms of drugs valued at Rs 602 crore. During the operation, the Pakistani nationals attempted to evade arrest by trying to ram their boat into ATS officials, prompting retaliatory action.

These developments highlight the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and illegal activities along India's coastline. The swift action by law enforcement agencies demonstrates their commitment to maintaining security and combating organized crime in the region.
