US bans Belarusian and Chinese companies for giving Pakistan ballistic missile technology

The United States has recently imposed sanctions on entities found to be supplying missile-applicable items to Pakistan's ballistic missile program. Among the targeted entities are three Chinese companies and a Belarus-based firm. These sanctions fall under Section 1(a)(ii) of Executive Order 13382, which aims to counter the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems.

The sanctioned entities have been identified for their involvement in supplying missile-applicable items to Pakistan's ballistic missile program, including its long-range missile program. This action underscores the US commitment to preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery.

As a result of the sanctions, all property and interests in property of the designated entities that are within the United States or under the control of US persons are blocked and must be reported to the Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Additionally, transactions involving these entities or their property are prohibited unless authorized by OFAC.

The sanctioned firms include the Belarus-based Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant, which supplied special vehicle chassis to Pakistan's long-range ballistic missile program. The Chinese companies targeted are Xi’an Longde Technology Development Company Limited, Tianjin Creative Source International Trade Co Ltd, and Granpect Company Limited. These companies were found to have supplied various missile-related equipment to Pakistan's ballistic missile program, including filament winding machines, stir welding equipment, linear accelerator systems, and equipment for testing large-diameter rocket motors.

The US remains committed to preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction and will continue to take action against entities involved in such proliferation activities.
