Vistara reports "crew unavailability" and verifies flight delays and cancellations

Vistara Airline, a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, has been dealing with significant disruptions, including frequent flight cancellations and delays, in the past few days. In response to the criticism from passengers, the airline issued a statement on Monday acknowledging the inconvenience and assuring customers that efforts are underway to stabilize the situation.

The airline attributed the delays and cancellations to "crew unavailability" and announced temporary reductions in the number of flights to ensure adequate connectivity across their network.

"We confirm that we have had a number of flight cancellations and unavoidable delays in the last few days due to various operational reasons. Our teams are tirelessly working to stabilising the situation. We regret the inconvenience caused to our valued customers due to these disruptions," Vistara said in its official statement.

To mitigate the impact on passengers, Vistara stated that they are offering alternate flight options or refunds to affected customers, as applicable. Additionally, the airline mentioned deploying larger aircraft on select domestic routes to accommodate more passengers and combine flights.

Despite these measures, frustrated passengers, including prominent figures like Mohandas Pai and Vikram Sampath, expressed their dissatisfaction on social media platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter). They shared their experiences of delays and cancellations, highlighting issues such as lack of prior notice and poor communication from the airline.

This recent crisis adds to Vistara's previous challenges, as the airline faced a similar situation last month, primarily due to the non-availability of pilots, which impacted flight operations at Delhi and Mumbai airports.
