Watch: Devotees escape unharmed as a 120-foot-tall chariot collapses in Bengaluru

During a religious and cultural event near Anekal in Bengaluru (rural), a 120-foot tall temple chariot collapsed on Saturday, amidst the bustling atmosphere of the annual Huskur Madduramma temple fair.

The fair, which draws thousands of devotees from more than 10 villages, was in full swing when the incident unfolded. As devotees attempted to hoist the colossal and elaborately adorned chariot using ropes attached from all sides, it suddenly lost balance and crashed to the ground.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the gathered crowd. Swift efforts were made to restore the chariot to its upright position, employing tractors and ox carts for the task.

The Huskur Madduramma fair is renowned for its annual chariot festival, with these majestic chariots serving as the centerpiece of the festivities. While the event once boasted over a hundred such chariots, recent years have seen a significant decline, with only 10 to 15 chariots participating in the celebration.
