Wife of tailor Kanhaiya Lal slain in Udaipur, wants to be beheaded

The tragic murder of Kanhaiya Lal Teli, a Udaipur tailor, who was brutally beheaded inside his shop two years ago, continues to haunt his family. His wife, still grappling with the loss, expressed her anguish and desire for justice, stating that she wished the perpetrators to face a similar fate.

The incident occurred in June 2022 when two men attacked Kanhaiya Lal in broad daylight, an act captured on CCTV. The accused later confessed to the crime, attributing it to Kanhaiya Lal's support for BJP leader Nupur Sharma. This led to a nationwide outcry, and the case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Despite the arrests and the filing of a charge sheet against the accused, Kanhaiya Lal's family lives in constant fear. They have undergone significant lifestyle changes, with heightened security measures and surveillance cameras installed in their home. His eldest son, Tarun, expressed the family's ongoing struggle for justice, lamenting the absence of his father and the impact it has had on their lives.

As Udaipur prepares for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the constituency witnesses a contest between Congress' Tara Chand Meena and BJP's Mannalal Rawat. Meena, a former IAS officer, and Rawat, a former government officer, both bring administrative experience to the political arena. The backdrop of Kanhaiya Lal's tragic death adds poignancy to the electoral landscape, serving as a reminder of the quest for justice and the need for safer communities.
