In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the government's commitment to eradicating Naxalism from the country, promising swift action if Prime Minister Narendra Modi secures a third consecutive term at the helm.
Highlighting the recent successful operation against Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district, where 29 Naxals were neutralized, Shah praised the joint efforts of security forces, emphasizing the significant blow dealt to the Naxal insurgency.
Shah credited the BJP-led government in Chhattisgarh for intensifying the crackdown on Naxalism, resulting in a significant reduction of its presence to only four districts in the state. He contrasted the proactive approach of the BJP government with the previous Congress administration's purported lack of cooperation in combating the insurgency.
Expressing confidence in the government's ability to eliminate Naxalism nationwide, Shah asserted that under Modi's leadership, the BJP would achieve this goal within one to two years if re-elected. He highlighted the government's track record, citing the establishment of 250 security camps in Naxal-affected areas and the successful pacification of several states previously plagued by Naxal violence.
Responding to criticism from the Congress, which called for an investigation into the Kanker operation, Shah dismissed their concerns as baseless, accusing the party of losing touch with reality. He likened the Congress's skepticism to a loss of sanity, invoking a verse from the Ramcharitmanas.
In conclusion, Shah emphasized the stark contrast between the Congress's governance, which allegedly allowed Naxalism to thrive across one-third of the country, and the BJP's proactive approach, which has significantly curtailed Naxal presence in various states. He reiterated the government's determination to continue its efforts until Naxalism is completely eradicated from the nation.
