With the police summons in Amit Shah's fictitious video case, Revanth Reddy slams the BJP

Delhi Police has summoned Telangana Chief Minister and Congress leader Revanth Reddy to join the probe on May 1 regarding the doctored videos of Union Home Minister Amit Shah circulating on social media platforms, according to sources.

Reddy is expected to appear for questioning along with all electronic devices used by him. Additionally, five more individuals, including some Congress leaders, who shared the edited videos, will also be summoned by Delhi Police. Assam Police has already made one arrest in connection with the case.

In response to the summons, Revanth Reddy accused the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of exploiting the Delhi Police for their political advantage. He asserted that such tactics would not intimidate them and vowed to defeat Modi and Shah in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, particularly in Telangana and Karnataka.

The summoning of Reddy comes after Delhi Police registered a case based on complaints by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the BJP. The FIR, filed by the Special Cell, includes various sections of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of the IT Act.

The complaint alleges that doctored videos are being circulated on social media platforms to stir discord among communities, which could potentially disrupt public tranquility and order. The BJP claims that an old video of Amit Shah discussing the removal of 4% reservation for Muslims in Telangana was manipulated to falsely depict him advocating for an end to reservation during a recent election rally.

The complaint further alleges that the manipulated video was shared by the official Telangana Congress handle, after which several party leaders reposted it. Delhi Police has also requested information from X and Facebook regarding the accounts responsible for uploading the allegedly edited video.
