17-year-old killed in Thane, Maharashtra, by strangulation and stabbing



A case has been registered against unidentified individuals for allegedly strangling and stabbing a 17-year-old girl whose body was discovered in a chawl in Thane city, Maharashtra, four days ago, police reported on Tuesday.

The body of Tejaswini Manoj Razak was found in a room of a chawl in the Taricha Pada area of Kolshet on the night of May 24, according to an official statement.

On Monday, the police registered a case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code against unknown persons.

The decision to file the case came after a post-mortem examination revealed ligature marks and stab wounds on the girl's neck, the official added.

According to police investigations, the victim, who resided alone, was both strangled and stabbed to death.

The Kapaurbawdi police are currently conducting inquiries into the case.
