A nine-year-old girl named Lissel Maria from Gothuruth, Kerala was critically injured in a drive-by shooting at a London restaurant. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday while Lissel was dining with her family. A gunman on a motorbike opened fire outside the restaurant, injuring four people, including Lissel.
Lissel is currently in critical condition and fighting for her life in a hospital. Her parents, Ajeesh and Vinaya, originally from Gothuruth, have been residing in Birmingham for the past two years, as reported by Kerala Kaumudi.
Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway stated, "Three men and a nine-year-old girl were shot when a firearm was discharged from a motorbike on May 30 at 9:20 pm on Kingsland High Street in Hackney. We do not believe that the girl and the man injured were known to each other. As with any child, she was an innocent victim of the indiscriminate nature of gun crime."
The Metropolitan Police have secured two crime scenes at Kingsland High Street and Colvestone Crescent in London. They recovered a motorbike believed to have been used in the shooting, which has now been confirmed as stolen.
