The Bengaluru police have apprehended a notorious criminal, identified as Girish, for his alleged involvement in the killing of two individuals by dropping large stones on their heads within a week's time.
Girish, a resident of Banashankari, has a criminal history characterized by incidents of getting intoxicated and hurling stones at individuals sleeping on footpaths.
According to police reports, Girish is accused of dragging and fatally assaulting a person by hurling massive stones at his head in Block 7, Jayanagar, on May 12. The motive behind this attack was reportedly the victim's refusal to provide Girish with a cigarette. A case was registered at the Banashankari police station in connection with this incident.
Before authorities could apprehend him, Girish allegedly committed another crime on May 18 behind the City Market, resulting in the death of another individual under similar circumstances.
In this instance, Girish purportedly killed his accomplice, Suresh, following a dispute over a stolen mobile phone. After an altercation, Girish attacked Suresh with a stone while he was asleep, resulting in his demise.
These incidents prompted the police to register another murder case and intensify their efforts to locate and apprehend Girish.
Commenting on the matter, Lokesh Jagalasar, DCP South Bengaluru, stated, "The incident happened on May 18 and he (Girish) was nabbed on May 19. He murdered the deceased by throwing a stone at him because he didn't share a cigarette. He murdered another person near City Market."
"Girish was robbing people who were sleeping on the streets. Girish committed the murder and has been sent to judicial custody," he added.
