A Canadian man of Indian descent was detained by a hammer gang for stealing jewelry

Canadian authorities have apprehended three individuals, among them a 20-year-old of Indian origin, following a series of brazen jewellery store robberies at two Mississauga malls. The robberies, orchestrated by a gang armed with hammers, occurred on consecutive days, May 9 and May 10.

During the first incident, the perpetrators smashed multiple display cases at a Mississauga mall, making off with a substantial quantity of jewellery. Escaping in a vehicle previously reported stolen in Toronto, the suspects evaded initial capture.

Undeterred, the gang struck again the following day, targeting another jewellery store within a different Mississauga mall. Employing similar tactics, the robbers brandished hammers to shatter display cases and absconded with additional valuables.

Peel Police, conducting patrols within the vicinity, swiftly intervened during the second heist. After a pursuit involving mall security, three suspects, including 20-year-old Tejpal Toor of Indian descent, were apprehended. Furthermore, authorities managed to recover a stolen vehicle believed to be linked to the crimes.

Tejpal Toor, hailing from Toronto, along with the two other suspects, faces a litany of charges, encompassing robbery, wearing a disguise with intent, and possession of unlawfully obtained property. Currently held for bail hearings, the trio may face additional charges as the investigation progresses.
