A man who attempted suicide while in police custody is the accused in the Salman Khan firing case

On Wednesday, one of the accused involved in the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's house attempted suicide while in police custody. Identified as 32-year-old Anuj Thapan, he was alleged to have provided weapons to two shooters responsible for the gunfire outside Khan's residence in Mumbai.

According to police reports, Thapan attempted to end his life while detained by authorities. He was swiftly transported to Mumbai's GT Hospital for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save him, Thapan succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Thapan, along with another accused named Sonu Subhash Chander (37), was apprehended by Mumbai Police on April 25. The arrests followed the firing incident outside Salman Khan's residence in the Bandra area of Mumbai on April 14. Two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle discharged four rounds before fleeing the scene. Salman Khan was reportedly present at home during the incident.

Subsequent investigations led to the detention of the two shooters, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, in Gujarat's Bhuj by Mumbai Police. Thapan and Chander were later arrested after the detained shooters provided information about their involvement.

In response to the severity of the case, Mumbai Police invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against all the accused individuals. The investigation into the matter is ongoing as authorities seek to unravel the full extent of the incident and hold all responsible parties accountable.
