'AAP leaders pressured' Swati Maliwal to take action against her in the wake of the assault row

Swati Maliwal, an AAP MP, has raised concerns about the pressure being exerted on senior party members to act against her amid the ongoing controversy over her alleged assault case. She claimed that she received a call from a senior party leader who informed her about the pressure being put on party members to say derogatory things about her or leak her personal photos.

In a tweet, Maliwal shared her experience, expressing distress over the situation. She stated that there is immense pressure on party members to tarnish her image and discredit her reputation. Moreover, she highlighted the threat of expulsion from the party for those who support her.

Maliwal's tweet also suggested that certain individuals within the party have been assigned specific roles, such as conducting press conferences, tweeting, and orchestrating smear campaigns against her. Despite facing opposition from various quarters, Maliwal affirmed her determination to face the challenges alone, relying on the truth to prevail.

Additionally, Maliwal addressed the fear surrounding the accused individual, indicating that even prominent leaders hesitate to confront the powerful figure. Despite the lack of support, she vowed to continue her fight for justice, emphasizing her commitment to upholding her self-respect.

In response to allegations made by AAP leader Atishi linking her to the BJP, Maliwal expressed disappointment and refuted the claims, asserting her independence in the ongoing struggle for justice.

Maliwal's statement comes in the wake of Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's criticism of Arvind Kejriwal's silence on the assault row. Saxena reassured that the Delhi Police are investigating the matter, and appropriate action will be taken.

Last week, Delhi Police arrested Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Arvind Kejriwal, following allegations of assault made by Maliwal.
