After spending 50 days in Tihar jail, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal returned home to a warm welcome from his family and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters. His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, greeted him with a garland of marigolds, while his mother performed an 'aarti' and applied a 'tilak' on his forehead, showering him with flower petals. Kejriwal, clad in an olive-green t-shirt, sought the blessings of his parents by touching their feet and sharing hugs with them upon his return from jail.
Accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and other AAP leaders, Kejriwal entered his home amidst a jubilant atmosphere. Outside, supporters eagerly awaited his arrival, bursting firecrackers to celebrate his release.
Addressing his supporters upon his release, Kejriwal expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court judges for granting him interim bail and thanked millions of people for their blessings during his time in custody.
Kejriwal's wife, daughter, and several senior AAP leaders, including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, were present outside the jail to welcome him. Kejriwal had been arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money-laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam.
Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court granted Kejriwal interim bail to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections, specifying that he must surrender and return to jail on June 2.
