During his stay, Zameer is slated to engage in discussions with senior Indian officials, addressing a spectrum of bilateral and regional concerns of mutual importance.
Upon his arrival in New Delhi, Zameer shared his anticipation for productive dialogues, enhancing ties, and immersing himself in the vibrant cultural milieu of India, expressing his sentiments on X.
In response, the Ministry of External Affairs extended a warm welcome to FM Moosa Zameer, underscoring the significance of discussions on bilateral and regional matters to invigorate the multifaceted relationship between India and Maldives.
Scheduled meetings between Zameer and his Indian counterpart, Dr. S Jaishankar, are expected to delve into areas of shared interest and cooperation.
Earlier, the Ministry had announced Zameer's official visit, slated for May 9, 2024, expressing optimism that his presence would provide a renewed impetus to bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
Tensions between India and Maldives had intensified previously, triggered by Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu's insistence on the withdrawal of Indian military personnel from operating three military platforms within the island nation.
