An IndiGo flight bound for Calicut, designated as 6E5913 and originally slated for departure from Delhi at 7:10 pm on Wednesday, encountered a delay, eventually taking off at 11:03 pm. The delay stemmed from a directive issued by the Air Traffic Controller (ATC), instructing the aircraft to abort its takeoff due to safety concerns arising from a "go-around by another aircraft on the parallel runway," as clarified by the airline.
Following the ATC's instruction, IndiGo flight 6E5913 returned to the terminal, where the airline's ground team efficiently facilitated the transfer of passengers to an alternate aircraft, thereby minimizing the inconvenience caused by the delay. IndiGo issued an apology to affected passengers for any inconvenience experienced during the ordeal.
Contrary to earlier reports, Air India refuted any involvement of their aircraft in the go-around incident on the parallel runway, clarifying the reference made in IndiGo's statement.
This incident adds to the recent string of events concerning IndiGo Airlines. In a separate incident earlier this month at Rajkot International Airport, passengers expressed frustration and engaged in confrontations with IndiGo staff after the airline delayed its Rajkot-Mumbai flight by over two hours, following a wait of more than three hours.
Additionally, last month an IndiGo aircraft en route to Ahmedabad had to return to Delhi due to a landing gear issue. In March, at Kolkata airport, an IndiGo aircraft's wingtip made contact with the wings of an Air India Express plane, resulting in damage to both aircraft.
