In a tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly, a woman named Hemlata was murdered by her husband, Rajkumar, who then tried to mislead authorities by claiming they were attacked by armed robbers. The incident occurred on the night of May 14 while the couple was returning to Rajkumar's in-laws' house.
Hemlata, who was pregnant, had recently had a heated argument with Rajkumar over suspicions of an extra-marital affair and the paternity of the unborn child. This argument led Hemlata to leave for her maternal home in anger.
On the night of the incident, Rajkumar devised a plan to kill his wife. While they were on their way back from his in-laws' house, he staged a fake robbery. During this staged event, he shot Hemlata and claimed that robbers had attacked them, stolen their bike, and shot Hemlata when she resisted.
Rajkumar then mourned his wife's death to deceive both his family and the police. However, during the investigation, the police noticed inconsistencies in Rajkumar's story.
SP (rural) Manush Pareek reported that Rajkumar had been arrested and sent to jail after he confessed to the murder. The investigation revealed that tensions between the couple were exacerbated by Hemlata's online activity of making and sharing reels, which Rajkumar disapproved of, and her alleged secret communications with her brother-in-law, which Rajkumar discovered.
According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), the crime scene initially appeared to be a robbery. However, forensic evidence and inconsistencies in Rajkumar's statements led to a breakthrough, unraveling the true nature of the crime.
