The Jammu and Kashmir Police have announced a cash reward ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for any information leading to the identification and capture of terrorists responsible for the attack in Udhampur district on April 28. During the encounter between terrorists and security forces last month, a Village Defence Guard (VDG) member lost his life.
Udhampur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joginder Singh stated that individuals providing information about the terrorists to security forces would be eligible for the reward.
Furthermore, the police have made their first arrests in connection with the case. Javed, a resident of Kathua district, was apprehended by Udhampur police for allegedly providing logistics support to the terrorists.
Sketches of the infiltrated terrorists, who entered from Pakistan into the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district, have been released by the police.
The encounter in Panara village of Basantgarh resulted in the death of VDG Mohd Sharief. Following the incident, the terrorists fled into the forest, prompting security forces to launch a large-scale search operation in the area to apprehend them.
