Australian lawmaker Brittany Lauga claims she was sexually abused and given drugs

Australian MP Brittany Lauga has alleged that she was drugged and sexually assaulted in the central Queensland town of Yeppoon last weekend. In a Facebook post, Lauga revealed that she went to the Yeppoon police station and hospital after the incident, where tests confirmed the presence of drugs in her body that she did not take. She stated that a police investigation is underway.

Lauga also mentioned that several other women contacted her, reporting similar experiences of being drugged in Yeppoon on the same night. She emphasized the importance of being able to socialize without the risk of such incidents.

A purported video of the alleged assault, filmed from across the street, circulated on social media. Lauga requested privacy and stated that she would take time to heal physically and emotionally.

The Queensland police have launched an investigation into the sexual assault allegation. Queensland’s premier, Steven Miles, expressed support for Lauga, emphasizing her wellbeing and stating that they are there to support her.
