Blast at the biggest explosives factory in Chhattisgarh leaves one dead and six injured



A tragic incident unfolded at an explosives manufacturing facility in Bemetara, Chhattisgarh, where a blast occurred, resulting in significant loss and injuries. The factory, known as the largest gunpowder production unit in the state, witnessed the devastating explosion, leaving at least one person dead and six others injured. 

The blast rocked the premises of the factory situated in Borsi village, prompting immediate response efforts from emergency teams. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) units from neighboring districts of Durg and Raipur swiftly mobilized to the scene, with additional assistance en route from Rajnandgoan. Approximately 10 to 12 fire tenders were deployed to combat the ensuing flames.

Rescue operations commenced amidst the debris, with efforts focused on locating individuals who were reportedly missing in the aftermath of the explosion. Bemetara Superintendent of Police, Ramkrishna Sahu, provided reassurance, stating that the situation was under control, with SDRF and expert teams actively engaged in assessing the situation. Initial reports indicated that 5 to 6 individuals had been transported to hospitals for medical attention.

Bemetara District Magistrate, Ranbir Sharma, offered updates, confirming that six individuals sustained injuries and were promptly transferred for treatment. While the exact extent of casualties remained unconfirmed at the time, authorities emphasized that investigations were underway to determine the cause of the blast.

The injured were swiftly referred to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur for specialized medical care. Dr. Shivam Patel, an Assistant Professor at the hospital, provided updates on the patients' conditions, stating that while one individual was brought in deceased, the remaining patients were stable and undergoing treatment.

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao visited the site of the explosion, pledging a thorough inquiry into the incident and promising decisive actions against those responsible. Additionally, he announced the government's commitment to provide Rs 5 lakh in compensation to the family of the deceased, acknowledging the gravity of the situation and the need for swift and comprehensive support measures.
