Slogans advocating for the boycott of elections and promoting Naxalism were found sprayed on walls in multiple locations within the Delhi University area, officials reported on Thursday. These slogans appeared just a day before the Lok Sabha polls for all seven seats in the national capital, scheduled for May 25. The Delhi Police have filed two FIRs in connection with this incident.
During their morning patrol on Thursday, police noticed slogans such as 'Boycott elections, join new democracy' and 'Long live Naxalbari' written on university walls and police barricades. These slogans were attributed to the Bhagat Singh Chhatra Ekta Manch (BSCEM), a self-proclaimed youth organization, which also posted photos of the slogans on its Instagram page.
The police have registered two FIRs under the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act and have begun an investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Manoj Kumar Meena confirmed the registration of the FIRs.
The discovery of these slogans comes just a day before the Lok Sabha elections are set to take place in Delhi's seven parliamentary seats, with votes scheduled to be counted on June 4.
