Congress cites a poll code violation in their request to have "Run for Viksit Bharat" canceled

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President, Devender Yadav, has raised concerns with the Election Commission, urging the cancellation of the "Run for Viksit Bharat" event, which he perceives as a violation of the Model Code of Conduct. The event, scheduled for Wednesday, is organized by Delhi University in collaboration with the Viksit Bharat Ambassador Club, allegedly to promote the BJP's "Viksit Bharat" campaign.

Yadav argues that the participation of prominent personalities like badminton champion Saina Nehwal, actor Raj Kumar Rao, and University of Delhi Vice-Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh, alongside BJP figure Kuljeet Chahal, suggests a political agenda aligned with the ruling party. With an expected turnout of 5,000 students, Yadav contends that the event serves as a platform for BJP's electoral advantage, demanding its immediate cancellation.

Citing BJP leader Kuljeet Chahal's involvement, particularly as the national convenor of the NaMo App, an interface associated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yadav asserts that the event is politically motivated and aims to garner support for the BJP, thus violating the Model Code of Conduct.

Furthermore, Yadav highlights the use of posters featuring PM Narendra Modi by Dayal Singh College in connection with the Viksit Bharat Run, which he deems as a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

In line with the Election Commission's guidelines that prohibit mixing official work with campaigning or electioneering, Yadav calls for the immediate intervention of the Election Commission to instruct Delhi University to cancel the scheduled run.
