Daughter of a navy officer, 16, is the youngest Indian woman to climb Mount Everest from Nepali side

Kaamya Karthikeyan, a 16-year-old student from Mumbai, has achieved a remarkable feat by successfully scaling Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, from the Nepal side. Accompanied by her father, Cdr S Karthikeyan, Kaamya began her expedition on April 3 and reached the summit on May 20.

This achievement makes Kaamya the youngest Indian mountaineer to conquer Mount Everest from the Nepal side. Additionally, she has secured the title of the second-youngest girl globally to accomplish this remarkable feat.

Having already conquered the highest peaks on six continents, Kaamya's next challenge is to scale Mount Vinson Massif in Antarctica later this year. Her goal is to become the youngest girl to complete the '7 Summits challenge', which involves scaling the highest peak on each continent.

Kaamya's journey to the summit of Mount Everest adds to her list of impressive mountaineering accomplishments. In 2020, she made history by becoming the youngest girl in the world to conquer Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America and outside of Asia.

The Indian Navy has lauded Kaamya's exceptional courage and determination in tackling some of the world's most challenging peaks. They extend their best wishes to her as she continues her pursuit of summiting the highest peaks on all seven continents, aiming to set another record in the process. #7SummitsChallenge.
