Days after leaving the Congress due to "harassment," Radhika Khera joins the BJP

Radhika Khera transitioned to the BJP shortly after departing from the Congress, citing grievances against the Chhattisgarh faction of the latter party. This move came after Khera, a former prominent figure within the Rajasthan Congress and spokesperson for the All India Congress Committee (AICC), resigned from her position, alleging mistreatment and a concerted effort to undermine her within the Congress ranks. Among her complaints was an assertion that her visit to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was met with disapproval and punitive measures.

In an interview with India Today TV, Khera detailed her experiences of purported harassment by members of the Chhattisgarh Congress, alleging confinement and verbal abuse. Despite bringing these issues to the attention of party leadership, she claimed no action was taken. Upon aligning herself with the BJP, Khera expressed gratitude towards the party while levying accusations against the Congress, characterizing it as antagonistic towards Hindu sentiments.

The sequence of events leading to Khera's departure from the Congress included her resignation letter addressed to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, where she outlined feeling ostracized within the party for her visit to the Ram Temple. Prior to her resignation, a video circulated showing Khera visibly distressed, airing grievances about perceived disrespect within the party, particularly towards female politicians.

Furthermore, Khera recounted a distressing incident on April 30, alleging verbal abuse and confinement orchestrated by Sushil Anand, chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Congress unit's communication wing, and others. Despite reaching out to senior leaders such as Bhupesh Baghel, Pawan Khera, and Sachin Pilot, Khera claimed to have received no assistance.

Khera attributed the lack of support from Congress leaders to her visit to the Ram Temple, stating that her pro-Hindu stance resulted in marginalization within the party. Her emotional account underscored a narrative of continual mistreatment following her visit to Ayodhya, alleging exclusion from debates and admonitions against voicing her Hindu beliefs.
