Days before turning 34, the "heaviest man" in Britain passes away from organ failure

Jason Holton believed to be Britain's 'heaviest man,' passed away from organ failure just a week shy of his 34th birthday, according to his family. Holton, estimated to weigh 317 kilograms, died in Surrey last Saturday, leaving behind a legacy of health struggles and challenges.

Transporting Holton to the hospital required the assistance of six firefighters, highlighting the logistical difficulties associated with his condition. His mother, Leisa, revealed that his kidneys were the first organs to fail, with doctors predicting his passing within a week.

Holton's battle with weight gain reportedly began in his teenage years, triggered by the grief of losing his father. His eating habits spiraled out of control, with him consuming an estimated 10,000 calories daily, often starting his day with doner kebabs for breakfast.

Living in a specially adapted council bungalow, Holton's life revolved around his bed due to his inability to move and severe breathing difficulties. Despite efforts to address his condition, including interventions like specially reinforced furniture, his health continued to deteriorate over the years.

In a poignant interview with TalkTV last year, Holton expressed a sense of resignation about his situation, acknowledging the need for change but feeling uncertain about his prospects. His ordeal reached a critical point in 2020 when he collapsed and had to be airlifted by crane from a third-floor flat by a large team of firefighters.

Reflecting on the experience, Holton described it as the most devastating time of his life, likening it to a horror movie. The incident further compounded his sense of despair, particularly as he grappled with the public perception of being Britain's 'fattest man.'

Two years later, Holton faced another health setback, experiencing a series of mini-strokes and a suspected blood clot, underscoring the ongoing challenges he confronted due to his weight and health condition.
