Due to a crew shortage, Air India Express will set up alternative flights for passengers

Air India Express, owned by the Tata Group, is currently managing the fallout from over 90 flight cancellations on Wednesday. To assist affected passengers, the airline is arranging alternative flights and has issued a revised flight schedule. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.

The airline's CEO, Aloke Singh, cited the unexpected absence of senior crew members as the cause of the disruptions. Over 100 cabin crew members reported sick at short notice before their scheduled flights, leading to significant operational disruptions.

Singh explained that these disruptions have had a widespread impact on the airline's network, necessitating the curtailment of schedules in the coming days to manage crew shortages and recover from the disruptions.

Air India Express typically operates approximately 360 flights per day as part of its summer schedule, which commenced in late March.
