As scorching heatwave conditions gripped Bihar, the temperature soared to a sweltering 47 degrees Celsius, causing several students at a local school in Sheikhpura to faint. The school's inadequate infrastructure exacerbated the dire situation.
Upon witnessing the students' distress, teachers also panicked. The situation escalated when the students' parents were informed; they rushed to the school, creating a commotion and misbehaving with the teachers. The affected students were subsequently admitted to a hospital for treatment.
This incident sparked widespread criticism and concern regarding the Nitish Kumar-led government's handling of the situation. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav harshly criticized the administration, stating, "There is no government and democracy in Bihar, only bureaucracy. The CM can't do anything about the school timings. With temperatures at 47 degrees and the hot winds blowing, at least the young children should be given some relief. The infrastructure of schools in Bihar is poor... But there is nothing in the CM's hands."
Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani also condemned the state government, remarking, "Children go to school without eating or drinking. This needs to be corrected for the sake of the children. The Chief Minister remains silent and only hides behind officials."
The incident has intensified scrutiny of the government's approach to managing extreme weather conditions and ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
