Landy Parraga Goyburo, a 23-year-old participant in the 2022 Miss Ecuador pageant and a notable social media influencer, met a tragic end when she was fatally shot at a restaurant in Quevedo city on April 28. The circumstances leading to her demise are chillingly linked to an Instagram post showcasing her lunch, specifically an "octopus ceviche," inadvertently disclosing her location to two assailants whose identities remain unknown.
Reports suggest that Goyburo, who was in Quevedo city to attend a wedding, may have been romantically involved with Leandro Norero, a notorious drug trafficker who perished in a prison riot over a year ago. Speculation within local media circles hints at the possibility that Norero's widow could be behind the orchestrated attack, a theory currently under investigation by law enforcement.
Additionally, Goyburo's name has surfaced in a corruption investigation, connecting her to judicial figures allegedly involved in organized crime, as per accounts in the Telegraph.
Moments preceding her untimely demise, Goyburo shared a snapshot of her meal on social media. Surveillance footage captured the harrowing sequence of events, depicting the victim conversing with an individual as two armed assailants approached the restaurant. While one assailant positioned himself near the entrance, the other swiftly closed in on Goyburo, opening fire and fatally wounding both her and the individual she was engaged in conversation with, before fleeing the scene.
Goyburo succumbed to her injuries after sustaining three gunshot wounds.
Further revelations from the Telegraph indicate that Goyburo's photographs were discovered in Norero's phone, alongside evidence of lavish gifts, including automobiles, bestowed upon her by the deceased drug trafficker.
Goyburo's notoriety escalated in December 2023 following the revelation of her association with Norero in a conversation between the latter and his accountant, Helive Angulo, as reported by The New York Post. During Angulo's court trial, prosecutors unveiled Norero's desperate plea to keep his affair with the beauty queen under wraps, fearing dire consequences if his wife were to uncover the truth.
