Felix Gerald, the owner of the popular Tamil YouTube channel 'Red Pix', was apprehended by the Trichy district cyber crime police in Noida on Friday.
His arrest stemmed from the publication of an interview on his channel featuring YouTuber Savukku Shankar, during which Shankar made derogatory comments about senior police officials and female police personnel.
Gerald had previously petitioned the Madras High Court seeking anticipatory bail. During the court proceedings, Justice Kumaresh Babu remarked that Gerald should have been listed as the primary accused in the case for allegedly encouraging Shankar's offensive remarks.
The judge further expressed concerns about certain YouTube channels becoming a societal nuisance and suggested that action should also be taken against interviewers who coax interviewees into making inappropriate comments.
Following his arrest, Gerald will be presented before a local magistrate for a transit warrant, after which he will be transported to Trichy by train to face further legal proceedings.
