Following the tragic attack on an Air Force convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, resulting in the unfortunate demise of Indian Air Force Corporal Vikky Pahade and injuring four others, authorities launched an extensive investigation. Recent revelations have shed light on three individuals allegedly involved in the attack: Illiyas, a former member of the Pakistan Army, Abu Hamza, identified as a commander from Lashkar-e-Mohammed, and Hadoon. Notably, Illiyas is also known by the alias 'Fauji.'
The attackers purportedly acted on behalf of the People's Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), an affiliated group of Jaish-e-Mohammed, according to sources familiar with the matter. In response to this grave incident, a sweeping search operation has been initiated in the dense forests of Rajouri and Poonch to apprehend the perpetrators. Officials have narrowed down on several potential suspects and are actively investigating their connections with the identified assailants.
It's worth noting that PAFF has claimed responsibility for previous attacks, including one targeting an Army vehicle in Poonch in December of the previous year. The attack on May 4 unfolded near Shahsitar in the Poonch district, where five IAF personnel sustained gunshot wounds. Tragically, despite medical intervention, one of the injured individuals succumbed to their injuries, underscoring the severity of the assault.
As the investigation intensifies, authorities are diligently pursuing leads to locate the fleeing terrorists, believed to have sought refuge in the forested areas surrounding the attack site.
