First response to the sex tapes scandal from Prajwal Revanna: Truth will prevail soon

Prajwal Revanna, the JDS MP from Karnataka embroiled in a scandal involving sexual assault charges and explicit videos, has requested seven days to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) conducting the probe. In his response to the investigation team, Prajwal expressed confidence that the truth would emerge soon, marking his first public statement since the controversy erupted.

The Hassan MP, who is the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, reportedly left for Frankfurt, Germany on April 26, shortly after several videos allegedly depicting him in compromising situations surfaced online.

In his lawyer's reply to the SIT's notice, Prajwal cited his current location outside Bengaluru and requested a week's time to return and comply with the investigation.

Exclusive details accessed by India Today reveal that Prajwal is scheduled to fly back to India from Munich, Germany on May 15, arriving in Bangalore early the next day.

The scandal unfolded just days before the Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka, with numerous videos purportedly showing Prajwal engaging in inappropriate behavior with multiple women. The incident prompted widespread outrage and scrutiny.

Following the emergence of the videos, the Siddaramaiah government formed an SIT headed by ADGP BK Singh to investigate the matter. Subsequently, a report was submitted after a preliminary probe.

On April 28, a complaint of sexual abuse was filed against Prajwal and his father, HD Revanna, who is an MLA, by their house help. The case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

In response to the controversy, the JDS suspended Prajwal pending investigation, emphasizing that if found guilty, he would face expulsion from the party. The suspension order cited the embarrassment caused to the party and its leadership by the circulation of the alleged videos.
