In Berhampur, Odisha, five individuals were apprehended in connection with the alleged gang rape of a minor girl. According to police reports, the incident occurred approximately three days ago when the victim, a Class 12 student residing in Baidyanathpur, visited a friend's residence. There, she was purportedly drugged and assaulted by the five suspects.
Upon returning home, the girl confided in her parents about the harrowing ordeal, prompting them to file a complaint at the Baidyanathpur Police Station. Subsequently, authorities took swift action, arresting all five accused individuals.
Sarthak Sarangi, the Superintendent of Police in Berhampur, confirmed the arrests, stating that the victim's condition had stabilized. Additionally, she provided her statement before the court. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
