Five Indian sailors freed from an Iranian-seized ship with ties to Israel

Certainly! The Indian Embassy in Iran has officially confirmed the release of five Indian sailors who were part of the crew aboard an Israeli-affiliated vessel that was seized by Iranian authorities. This development was disclosed on Thursday, with the sailors departing from Iran in the evening. The embassy extended its appreciation to Iranian authorities for their collaborative efforts and close coordination with the Indian Consulate in Bandar Abbas throughout the process.

The vessel in question, MSC Aries, was commandeered by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy on April 13, a significant event that involved the interception of the ship near the vital Strait of Hormuz. Initially, the vessel had 17 Indian nationals among its crew members. However, the recent release of five sailors, suggests a positive development in the ongoing situation.

It's worth noting that one of the sailors, Ann Tessa Joseph, had been previously released and returned home to Kerala on April 18. This underscores the complexities and challenges faced by the crew members and the diplomatic efforts involved in ensuring their safe return amidst such circumstances.
