A Leh-bound SpiceJet flight had to make an emergency landing in Delhi shortly after take-off due to a bird strike on one of the aircraft's engines. Flight SG123 departed at 10:29 am but had to turn back and land safely around 11:00 am.
According to an airline spokesperson, the SpiceJet B737 aircraft suffered a bird hit on engine 2, prompting the decision to return to Delhi. Fortunately, the aircraft landed safely, and passengers disembarked without any issues.
As a result of the incident, the return flight from Leh to Delhi, scheduled for departure at 12:20 pm, was canceled. This led to protests by disgruntled passengers at the Leh airport, who engaged in arguments with ground staff.
This incident follows a series of emergency landings due to technical issues on other airlines. Just last week, both Air India and Air India Express flights were forced to make emergency landings due to various technical problems, including engine fires and air conditioning unit malfunctions. Additionally, on May 1, a Vistara flight bound for New Delhi had to return and make an emergency landing after being damaged by a hailstorm shortly after takeoff from Bhubaneswar.
