A petition filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court has requested the registration of a criminal case against actor Kareena Kapoor Khan for using the word 'Bible' in the title of her book on pregnancy.
The book, titled 'Kareena Kapoor Khan's Pregnancy Bible: The ultimate manual for moms-to-be', was published in August 2021.
Advocate Christopher Anthony filed the petition, alleging that the title of the book had offended the religious sentiments of Christians. He argued that the use of the word 'Bible' in the title was intended to attract attention and was objectionable.
Anthony challenged the decision of an additional sessions court that rejected his request to file a case against Kareena Kapoor.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued a notice to Kareena Kapoor Khan regarding the petition. The next hearing is scheduled for July 1.
Initially, Anthony filed a complaint with a local police station, alleging that the book's title had offended the Christian community by equating the Bible, a holy book, with the actor's pregnancy. However, the police declined to register a case.
Subsequently, Anthony approached a magistrate court seeking similar action, but his plea was dismissed because he failed to demonstrate how the use of the word 'Bible' caused offense to Christians.
Undeterred, Anthony appealed to the Additional Sessions Court, which also denied his request for relief.
