Australian police have arrested a man for causing disruption on a domestic flight after allegedly running naked down the aisle, knocking over a crew member, and prompting the plane to return to Perth. The incident occurred shortly after the flight departed for Melbourne on Monday night, leading to the aircraft's return to Perth less than an hour later.
Virgin Australia confirmed the disruption, stating that the flight had to turn back due to a disruptive passenger on board. Upon landing, Australian Federal Police officers removed the disruptive individual from the aircraft.
While no passengers were harmed during the incident, the accused was taken into custody by authorities. Reports suggest that he ran naked through the plane during the flight, causing a crew member to fall and necessitating the return of the aircraft to Perth.
The Australian Federal Police responded to a call for assistance from airline staff at Perth Airport, and the individual was subsequently taken to a hospital for evaluation. Charges are pending against the man, who is expected to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on June 14. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
