In response to the BJP's "you didn't even vote" show cause notice, Jayant Sinha

In response to the show cause notice issued by Aditya Sahu, the Jharkhand general secretary of the BJP, senior party figure Jayant Sinha expressed his astonishment at receiving such communication. Sinha clarified that his absence from voting in the Lok Sabha polls and involvement in election campaigning was due to his overseas travel for "urgent personal commitments," for which he utilized the postal ballot process to cast his vote.

Sinha highlighted the lack of outreach from senior party officials, MPs, or MLAs from Jharkhand following his decision in March not to contest the Lok Sabha polls. Despite his announcement, he asserted that he was ready and willing to participate in any election-related activities if the party had communicated such a need to him.

Acknowledging the party's nomination of Manish Jaiswal as the candidate for the Hazaribagh seat, Sinha emphasized his support for Jaiswal since the announcement. He recounted interactions with Jaiswal, including a congratulatory message and an attempt to attend Jaiswal's nomination rally, albeit hindered by short notice.

Sinha clarified the timeline of his interactions with Jaiswal and his subsequent departure from India on May 10 to attend to personal commitments overseas, after informing the Speaker and casting his vote via postal ballot. He dismissed allegations of neglecting his voting responsibility, emphasizing his adherence to the process.

In a letter spanning two pages to Sahu, Sinha expressed his readiness for direct communication to resolve any issues raised, criticizing the timing of the notice after the elections had concluded.

Regarding his decision not to contest the elections, Sinha mentioned consulting with BJP president JP Nadda, with a focus on addressing climate change issues. Despite widespread support and appeals from constituents and party members to reconsider his decision, Sinha affirmed his withdrawal from candidacy, maintaining decorum throughout the process.

Sinha reiterated his commitment to supporting the party's economic and governance agendas, expressing surprise at the public release of Sahu's letter and highlighting the timing of the spat, which coincided with his son's participation in an INDIA bloc rally in Hazaribagh, sparking speculation about his political aspirations.
