In response to Swati Maliwal's attack, Priyanka Gandhi said, I support women regardless of parties

Priyanka Gandhi, Congress leader, voiced her support for AAP MP Swati Maliwal, who accused an aide of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal of assault. Gandhi emphasized her stance on standing with women regardless of party affiliations and expressed hope for a resolution from the AAP.

While currently in Uttar Pradesh, Gandhi stated, “If there are any atrocities against any woman, then I will speak in favor of the woman only... I will stand in favor of the woman no matter where anything wrong happens to the woman.” She affirmed her support for Maliwal, stating, “If anything is true if something wrong has happened, then I am standing with that woman.”

Gandhi also extended an offer to Maliwal for a discussion, saying, “If Swati Maliwal wants to talk to me, then I will talk.”

Addressing Kejriwal, she expressed hope for appropriate action and resolution: “If Kejriwal ji knows about this matter, then I hope that Kejriwal ji will take some appropriate action. I hope Kejriwal ji will find a solution which is acceptable to Swati Maliwal.”

However, Gandhi questioned the BJP’s stance on the issue, citing their response to previous cases of violence against women. She criticized the BJP for not taking adequate action in cases such as Hathras and Unnao gangrape, and for neglecting issues concerning female wrestlers.

Following Maliwal’s allegations, AAP leader Sanjay Singh acknowledged the charges and assured strict action from Kejriwal’s side. The BJP, in response, criticized Kejriwal for his silence on the matter and accused him of behaving like a "goon".

Delhi Police initiated an inquiry into Maliwal's allegations, and the National Commission for Women summoned Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar, over the issue.
