The Karnataka Police detained BJP leader Devaraje Gowda on Friday near Chitradurga district in connection with several serious charges, including molestation, sexual harassment, and an SC/ST case. These charges were filed against him at a local police station in Hassan on April 1, but the matter gained attention recently when he raised allegations of sexual abuse against Prajwal Revanna.
Gowda is set to be brought to Hassan for questioning regarding the case. He had previously alerted BJP leadership about Revanna's alleged misconduct and advised against giving him a Lok Sabha ticket from Hassan.
The complaints against Gowda were lodged by a woman who accused him of molesting her over nearly ten months under the guise of assisting her in selling her property. Additionally, the woman's husband filed a separate complaint against Gowda, accusing him of intruding into their home, issuing threats, and verbally abusing them.
According to the FIR, Gowda allegedly harassed the woman for an extended period, including incidents where he took her to secluded locations and molested her. The complaint further alleges that he threatened to harm both the woman and her husband.
