India man was tricked by a Pakistani spy posing as an IBM employee into disclosing military drone data

In Gujarat's Bharuch district, a man named Pravin Mishra has been apprehended by authorities on charges of espionage for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The Gujarat Criminal Investigation Department (CID) revealed that Mishra was ensnared in a "honey trap" orchestrated by an ISI agent masquerading as Sonal Garg, purportedly an employee of IBM Chandigarh.

Operating under the guise of Sonal Garg, the ISI operative utilized an Indian WhatsApp number and a fabricated Facebook profile to ensnare Mishra, a resident of Ankleshwar, Bharuch. Mishra, who was employed in Hyderabad in an organization with ties to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), was induced to divulge classified information related to India's defense sector.

According to CID ADGP Rajkumar Pandian, Mishra shared crucial details about DRDO-manufactured drones and fell prey to attempts by the ISI to implant malware on his office server. Subsequent investigations uncovered that the gathered intelligence was being transmitted to an agency in Pakistan.

The inquiry was initiated following a notification from Military Intelligence in Udhampur, alerting authorities to nefarious activities targeting active or retired personnel associated with the Armed Forces, DRDO, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and individuals engaged in missile system development.

A legal case has been initiated against Mishra, the ISI agent operating under the alias "Sonal Garg," and any Indian collaborators implicated in the conspiracy. Authorities continue to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
