The West Bengal Police has initiated a First Information Report (FIR) against a paramilitary jawan following allegations of molestation made by the Trinamool Congress against him.
Responding to the incident, the Border Security Force (BSF) announced on Tuesday that it has formed an inquiry committee to look into the allegations of molestation by one of its personnel. BSF DIG AK Arya stated that the force is taking the matter seriously and has initiated an investigation. The accused constable has been relieved from election duties and suspended pending the outcome of the inquiry. If found guilty, the constable will face severe disciplinary action, as per BSF's claims.
The alleged incident, involving the outraging of a woman's modesty, occurred in the Uluberia Lok Sabha constituency area of West Bengal, a day before the fifth phase of polling for the seat. Following the Trinamool Congress's complaint, an FIR was filed against the accused BSF constable under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Uluberia Police Station.
Emphasizing the force's commitment to professionalism, the BSF stated that it does not tolerate any form of indiscipline among its personnel. The BSF highlighted its dedication to performing election duties diligently and affirmed that any misconduct by its members is taken very seriously.
