Kamala Harris consents to discuss Donald Trump's choice for vice president

During an interview, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump hinted that he might reveal his choice for vice president at the GOP convention in Milwaukee, slated to commence on July 15. In response, Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted an invitation from CBS News to engage in a debate with Trump's eventual vice presidential pick this summer, as confirmed by the Biden campaign.

Harris's team has proposed two potential dates for the debate, either Tuesday, July 23, or Tuesday, August 13, to be held in-studio. They have urged the Trump campaign to agree to one of these dates for the debate. However, the Trump campaign has not yet issued a response to the invitation.

In his interview with TMJ4 conducted from New York, Trump expressed a likelihood of making the announcement regarding his vice presidential selection during the GOP convention in Milwaukee, expressing confidence in this plan. He remarked, "I don’t say anything is 100%, but you’re getting pretty close," and emphasized his anticipation for the event, stating, "I'll be doing it in Milwaukee. We're going to have a great time."

This development follows the agreement between President Joe Biden and Trump to participate in two debates scheduled for this summer, one hosted by CNN on June 27 and another by ABC on September 10. Notably, these debates will not feature live audiences, a condition that aligns with a key demand from the Biden campaign. This demand led to the Biden campaign's decision to opt out of debates organized by the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates, which has traditionally overseen presidential and vice presidential debates since 1988.
