In addition to establishing the helpline, the SIT issued a stern warning against the dissemination of videos and photos of the survivors. Emphasizing the need for sensitivity and privacy, the SIT cautioned that legal action would be taken against those who violate the survivors' rights. Media outlets were also urged to exercise responsible journalism by refraining from revealing the identities of the survivors.
Amidst the unfolding scandal, a significant development occurred on Saturday when a woman was rescued from a farmhouse linked to Karnataka MLA HD Revanna in Kaenahalli. The successful rescue operation, conducted by the Karnataka Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT), unfolded amidst allegations of kidnapping in connection with the broader sex scandal involving Prajwal Revanna.
Further complicating matters, HD Revanna himself was arrested by the SIT from his father, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda's home, in connection with the kidnapping case filed against him. The charges against HD Revanna include Sections 364A (kidnapping) and 365 (forceful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), with non-bailable sections invoked by the Karnataka Police.
The scandal erupted following the circulation of explicit video clips allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna in Hassan. In response, the state government swiftly established the SIT to investigate the matter.
