Another distressing incident has surfaced in Kochi, Kerala, where a 22-year-old woman from Kollam, working in a company in the city, gave birth to a child inside the bathroom of a private hostel. Her hostel mates discovered the situation when they found her locked inside the bathroom for an extended period. Promptly, they alerted the authorities who swiftly shifted the woman and her newborn to a nearby hospital, ensuring their safety.
According to the police, the woman's family has been notified, and a close friend has also reached the hospital to provide support.
What adds to the tragedy is that the woman's hostel mates were unaware of her pregnancy, underscoring the secrecy surrounding the situation.
This incident follows a similar one on May 3, where a 23-year-old woman, concealing her pregnancy, delivered a baby in her apartment bathroom and allegedly abandoned the newborn on the street outside her residential complex. Tragically, the infant was found deceased by sanitation workers, leading to the arrest of the woman responsible for the act.
