Knife attack at anti-Islamic rally in Germany injures several, and the perpetrator is apprehended



In Mannheim, Germany, police shot and injured a man who attacked a right-wing demonstration on Friday. The incident took place in the city's central Marktplatz square during a gathering led by anti-Islam activist Michael Stuerzenberger. The attacker, armed with a knife, inflicted injuries on several people, one of whom sustained a deep cut to the leg.

Police quickly responded to the scene, using a firearm to subdue the attacker. A rescue helicopter was deployed to assist, and trams in the area were temporarily suspended. Footage from the event showed the attacker being shot by a policeman while grappling with another man on the ground.

Stuerzenberger, known for his anti-Islam stance and involvement in far-right organizations such as PEGIDA, was preparing to address a small crowd when the attack occurred. The police have stated that there is no immediate danger to the public following the incident.

Authorities are investigating the attack and have not yet released detailed information about the injuries sustained by the attendees or the condition of the attacker.
