Madhya Pradesh will adopt CAA as the Center approves: Mohan Yadav

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) would be implemented in the state once the Centre gives the go-ahead.

The CAA, passed by the BJP-led government in 2019, aims to offer Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan who entered India before December 31, 2014.

Yadav affirmed the state government's readiness to implement the CAA, aligning with the policy of the central government. He emphasized that the implementation would occur promptly upon receiving instructions from the Centre during an interview with Aaj Tak.

During a roadshow in the Ujjain Lok Sabha constituency to campaign for the fourth phase of polling in the state, Yadav expressed confidence in the BJP's ability to retain all its seats. He attributed this to the overwhelming public support for the party and Prime Minister Modi. Yadav dismissed concerns that tribal and Muslim communities would not support the BJP, citing previous instances of their support.

Yadav also criticized Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar for his 'Respect Pakistan' remark, highlighting what he saw as Congress' misplaced trust in Pakistan over India's strength. He further criticized Congress for supporting NOTA in Indore after their candidate joined the BJP, suggesting that it reflected a lack of confidence in democracy.

Phase 4 of voting for eight seats in the Madhya Pradesh Lok Sabha Election 2024 is scheduled for May 13, covering Dewas, Ujjain, Mandsour, Ratlam, Dhar, Indore, Khargone, and Khandwa.
