Numerous people become sick in a high-rise in Ghaziabad; possible water pollution

Residents of the upscale Saya Gold Avenue Society in Ghaziabad reportedly experienced health issues after consuming allegedly contaminated drinking water, prompting concerns over negligence and mismanagement by the society's authorities. Following numerous complaints, health officials swiftly intervened, offering treatment and establishing a health camp to address the situation.

The health department responded to complaints from residents, dispatching a team to the high-rise to investigate and provide necessary medical care to those affected. Residents, including children, reported experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and fever over several days, prompting alarm within the community.

Concerns were raised with the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) after residents detected the presence of contaminated water. Despite prior grievances communicated to the society authorities and the builder, residents felt their concerns were disregarded.

In an interview with India Today TV, a resident expressed frustration over the substantial maintenance fees paid by residents in exchange for inadequate services. Dysfunctionality of the society's elevators further exacerbated residents' grievances.

Another resident shared the distressing experience of her entire family falling ill due to the contaminated water.

Allegations surfaced that the builder resorted to intimidation tactics, including the summoning of bouncers, in response to residents raising concerns. Additionally, residents claimed that initially, the society authorities obstructed health department officials from intervening.

Nevertheless, health department officials assured residents that water samples were collected for analysis, and immediate treatment was provided to those affected. Plans were made to establish a health camp on the society premises, manned by a team of doctors, for two days until the results of the water sample analysis are available.
