Pilots escape when a helicopter carrying the leader of the Uddhav Sena crashes

In Maharashtra's Raigad district, a helicopter accident occurred during a landing attempt, resulting in injuries to both pilots. The incident unfolded as the chopper was slated to transport Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare to a public rally amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

At approximately 9:30 am, the mishap unfolded as the pilots endeavored to land the helicopter on a makeshift helipad at Mahuhad. An initial report indicates that the helicopter tilted during the landing maneuver, leading to the injuries sustained by the pilots.

Footage of the incident depicts the helicopter losing control upon landing, exhibiting erratic movements before ultimately crashing with a resounding impact, enveloping the area in a cloud of dust. The rotor blades of the chopper were also visibly damaged during the crash.

Prompt response followed the accident, with law enforcement and emergency personnel swiftly arriving at the scene to rescue the pilots and administer necessary medical aid.

Preliminary assessments attribute the incident to the uneven nature of the landing ground, highlighting the challenges posed by such conditions.

The Raigad Lok Sabha constituency is slated for polling in the third phase of the elections on May 7, underscoring the urgency and significance of ensuring safety measures during such transportation endeavors.
